INFLUENZA SURVEILLANCE UPDATE
One of the most important responses to any major disease outbreak is surveillance – monitoring the extent of disease activity. Influenza surveillance by the California Department of Health Services (CDHS) is an annual, seasonal effort (normally December through March) and may provide ideas and lessons in monitoring other diseases or events. Information on the California Influenza Surveillance Program can be found at the link listed below. During the active influenza season, the most current California information can be found at this site. Nationwide and Worldwide information can be found at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) web sites as noted below.
